The new challenge starts today April 23, 2015 and ends September 1, 2015. This gives each participant plenty of time to enter free avatars that fit the challenge. Avatars need to be new for this challenge and fit the theme. No limit on entries.

The Theme ~ Llamas, Fella, DeviantART, Previous Merchandise (stress balls, key chains, stickers, etc.) made into Avatars for Anyone to use on DA!

In our continuous effort to improve the DeviantArt experience, we're publishing weekly Site Updates to keep members informed and to gather feedback. Below is a list of recent changes to the site, bug fixes, and feedback that was brought up by members in the last Site Update.
What's New
The Runaway Llama Badge
Late last week, two llamas captured the eyes of the world for a few hours, as they were on the run in Sun Valley, Arizona. To celebrate their fleeting freedom, and for the devious fun of it all, an additional level has been added to the already existing llama badge.
Hoax Involving Deleting Accounts
Recently there has been a surge in Journals being posted or shared that say that DeviantArt will be deleti

the challenge is to create avatars containing a Llama or Llamas, Fella, DeviantART logos or anything from the old merchandise.

ALL avatars must be viable for use on DeviantART ~ 50 x 50 pixels and 15 kb. or less for Deviant Avatars or 100 x 50 pixels and 30 kb. or less for Group  Avies!

There are no limits as to how many entries anyone can enter. You do not need to be a member* to enter the challenge. There is a challenge folder just for the Challenge ~ do NOT submit any type of avatar to the challenge folder that does NOT fit the theme! Any such submissions will be denied. If you are not a member of the group but want to submit a viable avatar to the group's gallery, then note the link to the group and it will be invited into the gallery.

Avatars can be pixel art, photos of llamas cropped to create an avatar, traditional or digital drawings cropped to the correct avatar sizes or anything I've forgotten to add!

Add a link to the group Llama Challenge in the artist description.

Use the CORRECT CATEGORY when submitting your avatar to DeviantART:

Customization/Icons/Avatars/DeviantART-Related

NO SCREENSHOTS can be used to create the avatar. Using something found somewhere on the Internet violates DA's TOS and ©/™ policies and will not be accepted into the challenge.

The Admins of Free-dAvatars will vote on their favorite entries. The top three avatars receiving the most votes will each win 50 points from FreeAvatarsAndMore

 First Place Winner will receive an assortment of DA Stickers. The Stickers were purchased before the DA Merchandise store Closed. Since they can be sent in a card, the stickers can be mailed anywhere in the world, since they won't have to be checked through customs.
